The Port Talbot-based operation, which opened on 1 July, is run by Michton director Tony Wadley and also has a dedicated graphic designer, salesperson and die-cutter operator. Around 50 factory staff and a number of admin and accounts people from Michton are also involved in the business.
The firm produces a range of bespoke carton packaging, retail pop-ups and displays and can accommodate run lengths from 50 to 40,000.
The firm's kit includes two Konica Minolta bizhub Pro C5501 digital printers, several Heidelberg die-cutting machines and a range of guillotines and gluers from another Michton subsidiary, Bite Promotions.
Bite Promotions brought short-run packaging manufacturing in-house to meet the demands of its clients in the promotions industry for bespoke packaging services with fast turnarounds.
“We’ve already had some big-name customers and successful delivery of orders since the business was set up. We were very well received at the APG expo in Manchester at the beginning of September,” said Personalised Printed Products sales executive Ellie Wilcox.
“Suppliers and distributors alike at the event said that when they have tried to source bespoke packaging in the past, they haven’t known where to begin.”
“It’s something that can be quite difficult to source, especially from traditional graphic design print houses that don’t have the same sort of turnaround times that we do in the promotions industry.”
Personalised Printed Products is initially aiming its services at customers in the promotions industry, to enable it to draw from the contacts and experience of Michton and Bite Promotions, but hopes to branch out into other industries in the future.
