NEMC ups output with extra ink-jet

The North East Mailing Centre (NEMC) has invested 100,000 in a new Renaddress ink-jet machine as part of its expansion plans.

Based in Washington, the three-year-old direct mail house went for the Renaddress kit because of its personalisation capabilities and ability to print up to 600dpi. The machine also has mail software support and can handle heavier stock including catalogues and magazines.

The latest addition has come after a 500,000 investment in equipment including a Winkler + Dnnebier envelope printing machine.

"The Renaddress will give us increased output that we need to achieve our target of growing the company," said NEMC managing director Heather Ramshaw.

She added that there were plans to invest in two further Renaddress systems in the "not too distant future".

According to Ramshaw 97% of the company's clients are retained and it is from this base that it intends to expand. "We are looking to take on more work and we are gearing up for increased volume," she said.

Although Ramshaw was tight-lipped on NEMC's current clients she added that it has gained ink-jet work from "several big household names".

"It has taken a lot of fast moving investment to grow NEMC's client base to the size it is in only three years and the new technology and machinery has helped us raise our game to become a national player in the mailing industry," added Ramshaw.

The company currently has a turnover of 2m with a target of 2.5m next year. NEMC has a full-time workforce of 47. Since its start-up in 2001 NEMC has gained financial support from the Department of Trade and Industry as well as local initiatives.
