The group originally showed FMsix at Ipex 2002 and the technology has since been used on a commercial basis within its Dutch and UK factories. But it is now available to the whole industry through its partners, including SunChemical, MAN Roland, Artwork Systems, Creo and KPG.
The new business, MY PrinTech, claimed that FMsix virtually eliminated the need for spot colours, while improving print quality.
FMsix uses standard CMYK plus two special colours, orange and blue, or, for some colours, orange and green.
MY Holdings chief executive John Monks said he was enormously excited about the process and the interest shown at Ipex. Rather than rush it out to the world, we wanted to show a years proven commercial experience to back up our claims, he added.
MY developed FMsix for use in sheetfed packaging printing but it is now in talks with potential technology partners in flexo web and gravure.
