The inks can be retro-fitted in all its mild solvent machines including the Blazzard and Spitfire Extreme 65, 90 and 100.
"They have an 18-month shelf life, require only weekly maintenance and do not require daily printing as is typically the case when using mild solvent inks," said Mutoh Europe president Arthur Hanhoutte.
The additional media that MS Ultra can print onto include low-cost self-adhesives. Its colour reproduction is the same as the firm’s earlier mild solvent inks, enabling it to use existing media profiles in Mutoh’s library of 1,500.
Running costs are claimed to be reduced to €0.92/sqm assuming 67% average coverage and the inks are available in 440ml cartridges, or 1l bottles for the firm’s bulk ink system.
The new ink is cyclohexanone and NMP-free.
The launch of a new-generation of mild-solvent inks comes hot on the heels of a new bio-solvent based Bio-Lactite ink for its Rockhopper 2 Extreme and Valuejet machines.
