"Multi-Tool is the perfect name as it can perform six different operations... it will appeal to anybody that has a folding machine," said Tech-ni-fold managing director Graham Harris.
The Multi-Tool is a development of the firm's perfing product. It uses specially developed self-sharpening cutting blades, which according to the manufacturer have five times the life of rival products.
The cutting configuration, which enables two- or three-up operation, uses a "scissor action" and a waste guide below the cutting bosses, to deflect the waste downwards, to give a "guillotine cut quality".
"It can also produce single-, double- and close proximity perfs [down to 5mm apart], as well as single- and double cuts," said Harris.
The position of the cutting/perfing blades is controlled by a series of spacer rings on the threaded boss, and the blades are protected in operation via a nylon sleeve on the lower boss. It comes with 17tpi, 25tpi and 52tpi double bevelled perfing blades as standard, with 12tpi 72tpi versions also available.
The Multi-Tool comes in three packages: 649 option one, which includes micro-perfing and kiss-cutting; 541 option two for cutting and edge-trimming; and the full pack option three, which includes all functions, for 871. Option three is currently available for 800.
The firm has beta-tested Multi-Tool at four firms and has already notched up six sales prior to its official launch this week.
