The 3696 gathering machine is capable of speeds up to 12,000 cycles per hour and Muller Martini believes the machine can handle a "diverse range of jobs" including magazines, brochures, single sheets and fold-out signatures.

The base unit is equipped with two tandem feeders in its standard configuration. These feeders can be replaced at any point with a sample gluer, a speciality feeder or a handfeeding station.

Its SPN side glue nozzle for PUR side gluing was launched to complement Muller Martini's existing PUR offerings.

According to the company, the nozzle allows PUR glue to be used alongside "the widest range of materials".

The system comprises of a Melt on Demand (MOD) SPN block premelter, a heated feed hose, a glue trolley and the side gluing unit. With MOD technology, only as much glue is applied in a two-stage melting area as is required for the process.
