The Manchester-based flexible packaging and labels specialist worked with Close Brothers Asset Finance to secure CBILS hire purchase financing for the purchase.
The business has invested around £1m in upgrading its production facilities since the end of last year.
The Nilpeter spend includes finishing, rewinding and camera verification equipment. The new FA-22 joins three existing Nilpeter presses, one 13-inch model and two 16-inch presses, and gives the business a substantial uplift in capacity.
Business development director Darren Kaye said the FA-22 was installed four weeks ago, and was up and running within a week.
It has been installed at MP+H’s main 1,400sqm site in Stockport, with some of its existing equipment moved to an additional facility.
“We’ve been busy and it’s not predominantly Covid-related. Our client base is growing and our new client base is growing,” Kaye explained.
The firm specialises in medical, pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging and is an established infection control specialist.
“Our shop floor is pretty much a clean room so that was massively helpful for Covid-secure working. Anything in the building that can be anti-bacterial, is, and we’ve been doing this for quite a while,” he added.
Managing director Marc Bradley said the larger web width would take the business into new packaging formats.
“The press gives us further optimisation to our current Nilpeter lines in ‘pure’ efficiency. It was a completely different way to buy a press in the current climate (Zoom meetings and sign off, with an installation Factory Acceptance Test) and we had every confidence in the delivery of our requests for this capital expenditure,” he said.
“We are really pleased to again have Close Brothers Asset Finance on board as our funder because, with their background in print and packaging, they are able to adopt a partnership approach, providing bespoke deals that are right for us.”
Joe Hall, relationship manager at Close’s print division commented: “As a long-term funder of the print and packaging sector, it’s always really encouraging to play a part in a company’s growth and subsequent success, and we are delighted to be involved in MP+H Packaging’s journey and look forward to work with them as they go from strength to strength.”
Nilpeter managing director Nick Hughes said the FA-22 was “the perfect fit for an ambitious printer like MP+H Packaging”, and said the speedy installation was “a great effort by all parties involved”.
MP+H Packaging employs 15 staff and has sales of around £3.6m.
