MPC administration to be challenged by creditors

A group of creditors is set to challenge the appointment of administrators at Maurice Payne Colourprint.

The Theale, Reading-based company went into administration with Rimes and Co on 28 July after a drawn-out closure that led to employees going more than four months without pay.

However, a winding-up order has appeared on the London Gazette, to be heard at 10.30am on 22 August at Reading Crown Court.

The hearing has been officially brought by Ideal Finishing, a creditor of the business that will be represented by legal practice Douglas Wemyss Solicitors.

Ideal Finishing has been liaising on the petition with print industry credit checking organisation ICSM.

Rupert Rudd, director at ICSM, told PrintWeek that there was little he could say at this stage because the case was in the hands of the courts, but added that more information would be available after the hearing.

He said: "ICSM has several clients supporting the petition, who are prepared to challenge the appointment."
