Mitsubishi's UK wing is being expanded to take on European-wide responsibility for spare parts.
The firm's Leeds building is being revamped to accommodate up to 5m-worth of press spares, and four new staff are being taken on. Spares supply for continental Europe was previously handled from Holland.
"It reflects the rapid growth of the UK business and is a big responsibility. We're very proud," said sales director Roy Jenkinson.
To mark the expansion T Nishioka, the president of the giant Mitsubishi Heavy Industries business, visited the Leeds plant with other senior Mitsubishi directors including Y Yasaki the managing director of Mitsubishi Heavy in Europe.
Jenkinson added that Mitsubishi expected to install "a minimum" of 24 presses into the UK this year, double that of previous years.
