The cutting table can accommodate material up to oversized A2 format and features creasing and eccentric, tangential and reciprocating cutting functions.
Mimaki said that printers could use the device in conjunction with its UJF-6042 small format UV flatbed printer to create an on-demand production line for original goods, by enabling printing onto both goods and packaging, and creasing and cutting both the outer packaging and any cushioning materials.
"There is a growing demand for on-demand production of prototypes and small lots, both for products and their packaging," said Mimaki Europe general marketing manager EMEA Mike Horsten.
"This includes fast, efficient prototyping and production of samples as well as small lots of products and packaging that may be modified to reflect different seasonal and regional requirements.
"There are promotional and special event opportunities, too. In particular, we believe markets such as cosmetics and luxury items will benefit from the ability to produce highly responsive eye-catching packaging with short lead times."
The CFL-605RT has a maximum cutting thickness of 1mm and 2mm respectively with the eccentric and tangential cutter and 10mm with the reciprocating cutter; downforce pressures for the creasing roller are adjustable from 500g to 1kg.
Stuart Cole, national sales manager - industrial products, at Mimaki's UK & Ireland distributor Hybrid Services said: "The launch of the CFL-605RT allows us to offer a unique, fully integrated, small format flatbed print and cut workflow solution. This opens up packaging companies, design agencies and their brands to limitless opportunities for their product prototyping – or, indeed, short run bespoke projects."
