The deal comes two weeks after the groups bid for Beshara Press was trumped at the last minute by AVG Corporation (PrintWeek, 28 June).
Newey, which has sales of around 2.2m, is focused on blister and contract packaging printing. It also has in-house design and finishing.
Neweys managing director, Bill Davenport, will remain with the company in a consultancy role, while his son, Peter, will stay on the management team.
Midlands Publishing sourced the acquisition through Richmond Capital Partners, the printing industry merger and acquisition specialist.
