Essex-based Merlin Colour Printers has spent approximately 150,000 with Friedheim International on a finishing revamp that includes an MBO T700 folder, an MBO T520, and a Schneider 115H guillotine.
The kit replaces existing Stahl machines, which were due for change, and will run alongside three Komori Lithrones.
A lot of trade finishers tend to run MBOs and we talked to a lot of finishers before buying them, said Merlin production director Ian Gilbert.
Merlin produces commercial work, specialising in jobs using special colour. We are now in a position to keep more work in-house, said Gilbert.
The company is in talks with potential new customers.
Merlin has 40 staff and a turnover of 4m.
