MediaCo pays tribute to Man U's Busby Babes with Old Trafford display

MediaCo has produced a full-colour window graphic for Manchester United to mark the 50th anniversary of the plane crash that killed 23 people associated with the club, including eight of the 'Busby Babes'.

The Manchester-based superwide-format specialist printed the graphic directly on Clearvision material with an HP Scitex TJ8300 press.

The 40mx15m display, which was commissioned by the club's sponsor AIG, took a day to print and cut in-house before it was installed over the course of a week at the club's ground, Old Trafford.

Three MediaCo staff were involved in installing the Clearvision substrate, a perforated film material that allows light to flood through, onto the glass of the building's façade.

The image depicts the Busby Babes' final line-up with the words of terrace favourite 'United Calypso' reflected opposite.

MediaCo managing director Mark Wardle said: "This has been a particularly poignant project to work on. MediaCo has always been a Manchester-based company and the Busby Babes are true heroes in this city."

He added: "We are very proud to be involved in producing this spectacular tribute."
