Installed last week at the large-format print group’s manufacturing site in Trafford Park, Manchester, the 3.2×2m flatbed features three rows of printheads that deliver a print resolution of 1,350dpi and outputs up to 304sqm/hr.
As well as enhanced productivity and quality, MediaCo said the machine’s power consumption and energy efficiency were also key to its decision.
MediaCo has specified its Kudu with 10 colour channels including white, varnish, and neon yellow and pink together with a CMYKLcLm ink setup.
With roll-to-roll and dual roll options, the machine can handle films, banner, mesh, and other roll stock up to 180kg, as well as boards and sheet materials.
Stephen Arthur, managing director at MediaCo Group, said: “SwissQprint's reputation for quality is second to none.
“The flexibility, productivity and energy efficiency offered by the Kudu made it the perfect fit in support of our commitment to deliver innovation as part of our net zero, carbon reduction plan.”
The machine can add texture with up to five layers of print, alongside gloss, satin, or matt spot clear varnishes.
“Installing the UK’s first Kudu is another first for MediaCo and I have no doubt the Kudu will quickly become the go to solution for outstanding and innovative displays,” Arthur added.
MediaCo will showcase print from the Kudu as part of the beMatrix display system for the exhibition, retail, and live events sectors, for which it is the approved UK print partner.
“Outstanding print quality, application of neon inks, and amazing 3D images on acrylic are just some of the innovative options we can now provide for the beMatrix system and will help revolutionise both the impact and sustainability of display graphics.”
MediaCo produces work for live events, exhibitions, in-store displays, product launches, interior decoration, brand promotion, and more.
