The M80 is a B1 folder with an 830mm infeed and a maximum production speed of 230m/min that gives users the ability to retrofit additional components.
Friedheim national sales manager Stuart Bamford said: "If you currently buy a B1 combination folding machine from any manufacturer you buy a four-plate unit with two fixed knives in the machine.
"But a lot of people only need one knife; with this machine you can have just one knife. You buy what you need and then you add on what you want later, should you need it."
Bamford added: "You could start out with a manual machine and by retrofitting the motors for the rollers and the plates, you can make it automatic."
According to Bamford, any feature from the MBO range can be retrofitted to the M80 at a later date, whether it’s a pre-slitter shaft or a slitter shaft cassette or a different type of feeder. "This is the only machine that you can do that with," he added.
The M80 is available immediately and costs from £40,000 to £180,000 depending on configuration. A B2 model, the M60 - pricing for which has yet to be confirmed - will be launched in 2014.
