The subsidiary, based alongside the manufacturer's existing operations in Lienz, Austria, will focus on building specialist industrial production lines for the wood and furniture and building materials and glass industries.
A new factory, currently under construction, will house manufacturing of the specialist lines, which include the Rho IP engine for small parts decoration, membrane switches, instrument panels and dashboards, and the Rho XY for glass printing.
Manufacturering of DIT's other wide-format equipment will continue to be based at the existing Lienz factory and at the company's headquarters in Brixen, Italy.
Official opening of the new site is scheduled around June, although staff and production for the specialist products will gradually transfer from the exisiting factory in the coming weeks, a spokesman said.
Würth, will head up product marketing for the site. He joins the company from Swiss firm Polytype where he was responsible for international marketing of the manufacturer’s digital printers for glass, metal and stone.
Würth said: “With Durst I have the opportunity to be part of building up a new company from the word go, and to use my knowledge in the area of printing technology, without having the constraints of company processes, which are already set in stone.
“The responsibility of taking over the sales and marketing department in this young firm, exploring new markets and developing strategies, represents a special challenge for me, which I am happy to undertake,” he added.
Durst Industrial Inkjet Applications will make its first exhibition appearance as a new entity at the inaugural Inprint industrial print show in Hannover on 9 and 10 April 2014.
