The industrial inkjet specialist is showing the new Rho 130 SPC, which has a print speed of up to 9,350sqm/hr. Durst said the press offers the industrial productivity required to transform the packaging sector towards digital technology.
Alongside the more cost-efficient production of shelving and sales packaging in short and medium-length runs, the Rho 130 SPC also supports sampling, customisations and versioning, directly and without set-up costs.
The manufacturer said it is also already addressing the future directives for sustainable packaging products in the food retail sector with the development of a non-hazardous ink system based on Durst Water Technology.
Durst said the machine's print speed would impress Drupa visitors. “We're proud of this press and really excited about it. This machine is the first step for us into the corrugated industry,” said corrugated packaging and displays segment manager Wolfram Verwüster.
The machine, which will cost less than £3m, will be field tested towards the end of this year with commercial availability expected in spring 2017.
The Rho 130 SPC is based on the latest generation of single-pass printing systems which Durst is already using in the label printing segment with its Tau 330 single-pass UV inkjet label printing system.
The business is showing the Tau 330 in combination with a laser finishing system and also providing information about the new Tau 330E standalone model. The Rho 1330 flatbed printing system is also being shown on the company's stand.
