Its maximum sheet size of 1,310x1,870mm, 10mm longer and 200mm wider than the same format straight machine, makes it the biggest sheetfed perfector yet produced, leapfrogging the Heidelberg XL162 and KBA Rapida 162. Maximum printable area is 1,290x1,850mm.
The first machine has been installed at Himmer press in Augsburg, Germany.
"We call format 8 the golden format because it gives us advantages for almost all our jobs," said Himmer chairman Hannes Eisele.
When perfecting the XXL runs at 10,000 sheets per hour.
Features include InlineObserver to monitor sheet turning and travel between units and an optional InlineSlitter, which slits the printed sheets two produce two stacks of format 5B sheets in the delivery, simplifying subsequent post-press processing.
Other options include InlineColorPilot closed-loop colour system and APL automatic plate loading.
