Former national sales manager Gary Doman has been promoted to the position of director of post-press and sheetfed sales, filling the position left vacant by Roger Cartwright who moved to Muller Martini at the end of last year.
The company had conducted a search both within and outside of the printing industry before appointing Doman, which marketing director Murray Lock said was company policy.
[Doman] is the boards choice and the companys choice. Hes good at his job and he knows the job.
Doman has been with MAN Roland GB for 11 years. He joined the then PPS in 1993 as a salesman before moving up to regional sales manager and then national sales manager.
Perhaps the most important thing that I can offer both the sales team and our customer base is a genuine knowledge of the industry I am now in my 25th year in print, Doman said.
Having worked at the sales coalface, as it were, I like to think that I have an understanding of the approach the market is looking for right now, he added.
Doman is the second MAN Roland GB veteran to be promoted in recent weeks. Former service director Malcolm Pendlebury took over as managing director from Nick Charles who left the firm earlier this month after just 12 months in the job (PrintWeek, 12 February). Charles had joined MAN Roland from the computer industry in January 2003.
