The direct-mail specialist is also looking to increase its workforce by about 10% to 220 staff.
The five Norpak polywrappers join a Buhrs six-station line, an STS eight-insert high-speed line and two Norpak PolyProcessors.
Mailwrights has also installed two CMC seven-station inserters and one six-station model.
The Nottingham-based company already has a Flowmaster C4/DL, three Bell + Howell Post Star six-station Sprinters and Philipsberg inserters.
The equipment, due to be installed by the end of June, was bought at auction "for six figures" following the liquidation of ID Mailing in Northamptonshire.
Bernard Reilly, Mailwrights' group business development and marketing manager, said: "We have been able to exceed what we would have been able to buy new.
"We were set to expand, after some good wins. We have a contract with [home shopping group] Findel, which has 30 million catalogues. They are not all ours, but we have a bigger chance of getting more of the pie now."
Mailwrights has also recently won business from holiday company Cendant VRG and garden specialist Wiggly Wigglers.
