Purchased through Josero, the additional machine was installed at the Nuneaton-based company’s premises in March and joined a Mimaki JFX500 flatbed and several solvent printers.
Volume had been the main challenge facing the business, which said there was too much demand to meet in-house, particularly as the volume from a large contract with one of its key clients was increasing.
“We’ve quadrupled, if not more, the amount of material we can print for one contract,” said Magna Signs managing director Ben Ashdown.
He said it also opens up a few new avenues for the business.
“Having a hybrid with built-in roll-to-roll UV machine enables us to print media that we couldn’t print with solvent. We couldn’t meet that demand before, but now we can do it all in-house.”
The majority of that work involves printed Correx boards as part of the contract with its key client, although other projects such as construction hoardings and property signage will go through the machine.
On beginning its search for the right printer, Magna turned immediately to Josero due to a longstanding relationship with its managing director Sarah Winterbottom.
While the business also explored other alternatives, Ashdown said the Agfa Anapurna fit its needs perfectly and he described the printer as “a level up in terms of size, volume and speed”.
He said the machine was delivered within two weeks and despite coronavirus restrictions hampering the usual in person process, the purchase was seamless “and I couldn’t fault the experience of the build and support from Josero”.
“The support with service and build from Agfa was really good, too,” Ashdown added.
