M-real raises price of carbonless

M-real has become the latest carbonless paper producer to announce a price increase.

The Finnish paper manufacturer is to increase the prices for its carbonless paper copy grade, Zanders Autocopy, with immediate effect.

"The move reflects increasing costs of energy, raw materials and transportation," said M-real UK's director of speciality papers, John Tucker.

Although he said "significant measures had been taken at M-real's Reflex mill in Germany, where Autocopy is made, these were insufficient to compensate for rising costs. "We have been forced to seek an increase from the market," said Tucker.

M-real's announcement follows that of Mitsubishi HiTec Paper, which unveiled a 5% worldwide increase in its Giroform carbonless paper reels and sheets and thermoscript thermal paper in December.
