The Chain of Custody covers some mills under the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) stamp, and several under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) scheme.
The certification applies to the Finnish paper producer's 21 mills in Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
It said it aims to increase the amount of certified wood in its products, and introduce more accredited products.
Both of M-real's UK mills at Sittingbourne and New Thames in Kent are certified under both the FSC and PEFC schemes.
Forest certification is a voluntary system aimed at promoting sustainable forest management in commercial forests.
