St Ives is poised to buy the first CTP system for its web division, with CreoScitexs Lotem favourite for the deal.
The two parties were meeting today (Friday), following successful trials at the Plymouth plant.
The choice of plate supplier is still to be decided. Its an interesting issue in terms of price and availability, said group finance director Ray Morley.
St Ives could soon be in a position to evaluate CTP systems from all the major suppliers. It recently installed an Agfa Galileo at city print specialist Burrups Print, while corporate print wing Westerham Press is looking at the Trendsetter, and book arm Clays has Barco kit.
We may end up with two suppliers and sensible terms to roll CTP out across the UK, added Morley.
