Lorien expands in advance of move

Personalisation specialist Lorien Unique is to expand its workforce by a quarter ahead of a move to new premises and a major investment in finishing kit.

The Colnbrook, Berkshire-based digital print firm, which will begin installing its HP Indigo w3200 digital web this week, is currently looking to add six pressroom and sales staff to its 17-strong workforce.

Lorien Unique marketing and business development manager Dave Pike said: "We've had an ongoing contract for 18 years.

"Developments outside that over the last six months have made it necessary for us to invest in new equipment. The equipment has really driven the people coming on board."

Pike said that the firm's move to a new 2,200m2 building, just 40m away from the current 1,300m2 premises, will be complete by February 2005.

He did not reveal details of the finishing spend, but said that it would allow Lorien Unique "to do everything you can imagine".

"Anything you can do with paper we'll be able to do from side cutting, lamination and bookletmaking, to wire binding, collation and hole punching," he said.

The firm produces more than 5m items of personalised mail every year on its three existing HP Indigo 3000 printers.

Clients for the firm, which is a division of Lorien plc's research and training arm Lorien Customer Service, include Ford and Esporta Health Clubs.

Jobs up for grabs include a production manager, a sales executive, a customer services representative, a digital print operator, a digital print finisher and a pre-press operator.
