Lintons slices booklet making in half with Duplo kit

Lintons Printers has halved the time it takes to complete bookletmaking work following the installation of a Duplo bookletmaker line.

The County Durham-based litho operation invested in the two-tower System 5000 bookletmaker to cater for "heavy-duty" brochure and catalogue work.

The investment has also allowed the nine-staff firm to bring all of its finishing work in-house.

Lintons director Ian Fothergill told printweek.com that the bookletmaker had been "fantastic" with the kit "twice as fast" as the printer's previous machine.

He added that by bringing all finishing work in-house, "the Duplo will pay for itself".

"A job we are carrying out at the moment would have previously cost us £1,000 to outsource," said Fothergill.

The £580,000-turnover firm, which operates a Ryobi pressroom, also runs a Heidelberg Stahl folder and a Wohlenberg guillotine.

The Duplo System 5000 can produce 5,000 A5 booklets per hour and 4,000 per hour with the two-knife trimmer.
