The British designed and manufactured press, which was announced in July, received its worldwide premiere at Labelexpo in Brussels this week, in a British racing green colourway.
"We've had a huge number of enquiries," said Dantex chairman Richard Danon.
"The speed, price and configuration make it an attractive proposition. People make too much of speed, no one runs their press for an hour and then switches it off," he stated.
Danon said the PicoColour II, which runs at 25m/min at top resolution, or 35m/min at top speed, was "priced for the mid-market".
The £182,000 press uses Xaar 1002 heads with a resolution of 360x360dpi and eight greyscales, which Dantex said delivered an effective resolution of 1,080dpi.
The press will be installed at Wrexham-based Limpet Labels in November, as a complementary addition to its existing set-up of conventional and digital label presses.
Danon said Dantex was still working with Screen as a distributor of its Truepress Jet 1350UV high-speed label press, and has sold four systems. “We have a really good relationship with Screen, and the markets for the two presses are quite separate – Screen is at the top end,” he said.
