Lexicon in talks with York Mailing over site

Lexicon Press is understood to be in discussions to replace the capacity it lost through the sale of the Goss M600 web press that served as the workhorse of its predecessor TPF's direct mail firepower.

Lexicon, which bought the main Northampton print site of The Print Factory London (1991) in March, has been searching for a replacement since Close Asset Finance announced its decision to sell the M600 to Polestar in April.

According to sources in the direct mail industry, Lexicon Press is now in talks with York Mailing regarding a possible deal that could see the latter's Centre Web site sold to Lexicon.

One respected source said: "My understanding is that the deal would be a sale of the Centre Web operation, which would be a win-win as the 16-page web that folds and sheets in Northampton doesn't necessarily fit anymore with the model of York Mailing."

Lexicon Press declined to comment on the rumours, while York Mailing could not be reached for comment as PrintWeek went to press.

Centre Web and Lexicon Press are both based in Northampton and are less than 10km apart.
