Lecta separates self-adhesives into new business

Lecta is spinning off its self-adhesive labels business into a standalone company.

The speciality and graphic papers group is separating the business unit from its Torraspapel operation.

From 1 January 2025, newco Lecta Self-Adhesives España will take over “all activities, agreements and commercial relationships relating to the Lecta's self-adhesives business, including all its self-adhesive products”.

Lecta said the move was part of its ongoing strategic transformation.

“With this new structure, Lecta seeks to optimize the management and profitability of the business through specialisation, increase production efficiency and analyse and adapt the opportunities of each business unit to market demands and the needs of its customers,” the group stated.

Lecta’s Adestor range of self-adhesive paper and films is available in a wide variety of facestocks, adhesives and release liners, with end uses including labels, stickers and wide-format applications.

Lecta Self-Adhesives España will be headquartered in the same building in Barcelona as Lecta’s HQ.

The overall group had sales of €1.5bn (£1.25bn) last year and employed 2,800 people. Its Almazán mill in Spain makes pressure-sensitive materials.

The likely size of the newco, and number of employees involved, was not disclosed.

Lecta refinanced and borrowed €90m at the end of last year to help fund its transformation plans.
