Lecta has gained food safe FSSC 22000 certification at its Leitza mill in Navarra, northern Spain.

The latest accreditation means that three of the group’s Spanish mills have now achieved food safety standards for production of specific packaging materials, with Leitza joining Sant Joan les Fonts, which also holds FSSC 22000, and Motril, which has ISO 22000.

Leitza’s accreditation relates to its Metalvac metallised papers for food packaging.

The mill also makes carbonless, thermal and cast-coated papers.

Lecta said that achieving the standard involved rigorous audits to ensure compliance.

“This is an essential step in meeting the needs and trust of its clients and consumers in general,” the group stated.

FSSC 22000 is a global certification model used in the food manufacturing industry and related supply chain to ensure food safety standards and processes.
