By coincidence, Elliott joined the independent paper merchant 25 years to the day after managing director and father Tim Elliott first started work for the company.
Elliott recently graduated from Loughborough University with a first class honours degree in management, specialising in construction engineering. Tim Elliott said his son would be given a thorough grounding in all aspects of the company.
He joins Ebb to head up its health and safety policy and assist in the implementation of the company's new network and computer
system.
"In time I hope Matthew will get more involved on the actual paper side of the business," said Elliott.
Described as a "mad keen" sportsman, Elliott excelled in rugby at University, touring South Africa in 2000, and athletics, specialising in the 400m.
In April this year he completed the world's toughest foot race, competing in the 151 mile Marathon Des Sables race across the Sahara Desert in southern Morocco, where he raised nearly 8,000 for an African children's charity.
