Londons Laserbureau is among three European beta-testers of a new print procurement e-comms package from software developer ProImage.
ProImage is best-known for its newspaper workflow package, NewsWay, and some of the know-how from this product has been incorporated into its new IWay product.
IWay has been under development since last November, and will go live in August. Printers pay a one-off charge for the IWay software server, and then a monthly maintenance charge, likely to be around $200. Users can also create their own customisable front-end to the service, which is driven through Internet browser software.
It comes into its own on fast turnaround, digital print-type work, said ProImage Europe managing director Izzet Edige. We are totally different to those providers who sit between the printer and their customer we dont. We do not interfere with customers or the relationship between the printer and customer.
Joe Brim, managing director of Laserbureau, said the system was "easy-to-use, efficient and miles ahead of the competition - they understand our business."
