Q I'm looking to print two lots of 2,500 four-colour B0 sheets. Anyone know of any printers that will offer a good price? Any guidance is much appreciated.

A This has prompted me to dust off my list of large-format litho printers, which requires a bit of updating due to a number of industry casualties recently. So, here goes with version one of large-format 09: SMP Group 020 8855 5535; Odessa Offset 020 8778 7888; Delta Group 020 8498 4400; Alderson Print Group 020 8224 0000; SP Group 01527 508000; Augustus Martin 020 75374200; Spenaprint 0191 293 1000; B&P 0161 486 5900; Dobson & Crowther 01978 862100; Havelock Europa 01383 823636. Inevitably, I will have missed someone off, so please let me know of any omissions.
Trolley talk #2
An update on a query from a few weeks back about plate trolleys (Help Line, 7 August). James Frampton, who posted the question, was coveting the trolleys used by Printing.com as he'd seen the video tour of their production hub on the firm's website. Now printing.com operations manager Darren Hall has supplied a bit more information. The firm actually uses two types of trolley. The Jalema system previously mentioned is used in the press area, allowing jobs to be queued up ready for printing, while a Plate Trolley from American firm Robert James Designs (www.platestacker.com) is used to transport plates in their wallets from the pre-press department to the press area. Robert James Designs has some other clever plate-handling products too, and I discovered when speaking to the firm's Jackie Dougherty that they are actively looking for distributors in the UK and Europe, so perhaps that's of interest to someone out there too. Jackie's contact details can be found on the website.
Forum friendliness #2
A happy ending for Bill Cheesman's search for a three-knife trimming solution for some book blocks he was producing (Help Line, 7 August). Dave Richards and the team at Yorkshire Trade Binders stepped in with an offer of time on one of their machines and Bill duly ‘nipped up' to Leeds from Blandford Forum (something like a five-hour drive each way) to complete his job, which took about half an hour instead of the many laborious hours on a guillotine that would otherwise have been the case.
