The firm has bought PageComposer workflow software, from Bell Microproducts Solutions, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
KPG's acquisition of its own workflow development team follows hot on the heels of its agreement with Artwork Systems to sell its Nexus commercial print workflow.
PageComposer will be sold worldwide as MatchFlow Composer as part of the KPG Colour Fidelity System.
KPG chief executive Jeff Jacobson said the deal would provide its customers with improved production efficiencies by expanding the number of pre-press file formats that can be accepted.
"MatchFlow Composer will extend the value we offer to customers," he said.
MatchFlow Composer will be integrated as a part of the KPG Colour Fidelity System, which enables customers to automate colour management operations from capture to output.
The software can convert between PostScript, PDF, PDF/X-1A or PDF/X-3, CT/LW, and TIFF/IT-P1 formats. The firm said it could be used to prepare data for gravure cylinder engraving.
