Komori spend part of 5m plan at ICP

Image Colourprint (ICP) in Willerby, East Yorkshire, is doubling its B1 capacity with new Komori presses in a 5m investment plan.

The firm, part of Image Data Group, has gone live with its new B1 Lithrone S640, and will install its Lithrone 540SP double-decker perfector in December.

Marketing director Paul Andrew said the group had regularly invested in new technology. Two years ago it became the first company outside Japan to install the Komori Lithrone S40D B1 direct-imaging press.

Our objective is to invest in the latest technology in every area in order to get speeds and efficiency throughout the process. Whether a customer wants a personalised poster or an 8pp brochure we can give them a complete service, said Andrew.

ICP had a tremendous track record for growth, added Andrew, who was confident that the firm could fill its new presses, while keeping available capacity for fast turnaround work.

The S640 is said to have the worlds fastest completely automatic plate-changing system. It also features Komoris KHS, which provides automatic de-inking and pre-inking of the rollers.

The 540SP will be ICPs most efficient sheetfed press, the five-over-five design allowing both sides of a sheet to be printed in a single pass with no drying or handling required.

ICP also has five- and six-colour B1 Komoris, a five-colour B2 Komori and a Komori Sprint. Across Image Data Group there is a range of litho, digital and large-format screen presses in its other divisions, Image Data Systems and screen printer GK Serigraphics.

IDG said its sales now top 25m. It supplies promotional and corporate colour print, point-of-sale and variable print services.
