Wigfield, who had worked for Creo, was previously Kodak's sales chief for GCG in Europe, Middle East and Africa. At the end of 2006, he stepped up to the lead role vacated by Terry Baber.
Wigfield described his departure to the US as "bittersweet" after his brief tenure in the UK.
A successor for Wigfield is expected to be announced in the New Year, when an official statement regarding the move will be made.
