Kirklees turns to iWay remote print handling

A metropolitan council has made big moves towards bringing all its print services in house and handled online by installing the Xerox iWay production suite.

Kirklees Council in West Yorkshire said the software lopped days off production times after it was installed in a bid to offer remote printing to the council's 6,500 PC users.

Early estimates suggested some proofing and print jobs went from two to four weeks to two or three days, said Xerox colour solutions analyst Steve Fowell.

"This has enabled Kirklees to save between 1,500 to 2,500 a month."

The iWay software drives a Xerox DocuColor 6060 digital colour press. Staff and councillors can order print jobs electronically.

"This reduces the need for printroom intervention by allowing customers to self-proof and personalise their chosen design of document and send to print," added Foxwell.
