The Bristol-based business, a long-standing Morgana customer that also runs a Major folder and an AutoCreaser Pro 50 from the company, took delivery of the new machine earlier this month.
The PowerSquare 160 is aimed at mid- to high-volume printers and can produce books from a wide range of substrates and sheet sizes, including A4 landscape. With the ability to staple, fold, form and trim in a single-pass, the machine can be hand-fed or configured with one or two vacuum feeders, each with a 270mm capacity.
KB Digital owner Keith Bohr said: “Customers are always keen to find new ways to present their printed product. We see the A4 landscape capabilities of this bookletmaker as an ideal solution to that need. Our Ricoh print engine is capable of producing long prints, so the PowerSquare 160 now gives us the capability to produce the finished article.”
While the business also looked at a range of other alternatives on the market, Bohr said the Morgana machine’s ability to produce a square-back finish to booklets “made a big difference”.
“It’s the sort of finishing touch that customers don’t know they need until they see it – then they are excited by it. It gives that paperback book look to a booklet or brochure, making it look more superior to the standard folded finish.”
Prior to purchasing the device, Bohr ran a live job on it in Morgana’s Milton Keynes showroom.
“Running real work is the best way to see a machine in action. It was only a few hundred copies, so I took the job along to the demo. The machine was very easy to set up, and such a short run that it was produced in minutes, but it gave me the confidence to go ahead and place the order.”
KB Digital designs and prints corporate literature, marketing material, brochure printing, leaflet printing and business stationery for companies in the Bristol area.
