Just Digital purchases new finishing kit

Digital print specialist Just Digital has invested in a number of new finishing systems from Duplo, including five bookletmakers.

All of the kit was installed last month.

The bookletmakers, all Duplo 5000 Digital System Pro bookletmaking systems, have automated stacking modules, and can produce 25 sheets per booklet at up to 200 sheets per minute. Minimum sheet size is 148x200mm and maximum size is 320x500mm.

Just Digital managing director Adam Hill described the new machines as the “best in the market” and said they were a perfect “fit for our workflow". According to Just Digital, they were also purchased to be more cost-effective and improve automation to get rid of bottlenecks as volumes increase.

According to Duplo’s UK marketing manager Sarah Crumpler, The Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire-based company also purchased a KB4000 PUR Binder, an Ideal Guillotine 5560 and some finishing equipment.

The binder has a fully automatic set-up, with closed PUR glue tank operation and touchscreen control. It is suitable for photographic albums, journals, paperbacks, directories and instruction manuals.

The guillotine has a hydraulic clamping system and optical cutting indicator. Its cutting length is 550mm, cutting height is 95mm, table depth is 570mm and narrow cut is 32mm.

Hill also said that with the purchase of the new equipment, Just Digital may look to move into new markets. He said these markets may possibly be "short-run packaging when digital finishing is more efficient.”

Just Digital, who’s blue-chip clients include Mercedes Benz, the NHS and Anglian Water, has recently moved production facilities from a 1,800sqm premises to a 13,000sqm premises, in order to boost production.
