According to Triangle ink manufacturer INX Digital the UOF inks are a drop-in replacement for the Océ and Fuji inks and don’t require flushing or re-profiling of the printers.
Despite the claimed chemical and colour compatibility of the formulation the inks are also said to have better adhesion and coverage, especially the white.
"Triangle inks have a technical advantage over OEM inks rather than just competing on cost," said UK distributor Josero managing director Loic Delor. "The firm is one of those rare suppliers with its own ink R&D and manufacturing."
The inks were launched for the USA last October at SGIA in Las Vegas, but have only just been made available for UK printers. Josero’s Delor said that he had held back on launching the product in the UK until he had heard back from beta testing elsewhere. To date the inks have been running in 20 machines it Italy in the past year.
"There is definitely a demand for an aftermarket ink for these flatbed machines," said Delor. "The UK market must have at least 100 UV flatbed machines in the midlands region alone."
