Johnson aims to boost beneficiaries as he takes on PCC presidency

BPIF chief executive Michael Johnson has become president of the Printers' Charitable Corporation (PCC) for 2009 and put increasing the number of beneficiaries at the top of his agenda.

He has set his sights on doubling the number of people the PCC supports this year by linking the corporation with the 153,000 people working in UK print.

Johnson said: "I regard being this year’s president as a great honour. This is a very exciting time for the charity as it moves into a new phase.

"Having undertaken a review of its activities, its priority now is to increase the number of people benefiting from its services."

His tenure takes place in a period when the industry is experiencing a transition from
marketing-led to more customer-centric, according to Johnson.

"Forward-looking companies that incorporate print into an integrated marketing-led service that includes e-commerce solutions are the ones taking the industry forward, Johnson added.

Stephen Gilbert, chief executive of the PCC, said: "Johnson brings dynamism and valuable industry skills to his role as our President. We’re looking forward to working together to increase engagement with our stakeholders."
