Southend-on-Sea pre-press service provider J Jays has selected WAM!NET to provide its communications infrastructure.
WAM!NET has supplied J Jays with its Direct! secure network service along with internet access, and ISDN and FTP connections.
J Jays managing director Alan Halls said: "We chose WAM!NET because at present there is no alternative that can manage the receipt and transmission of large files with the same speed and integrity. ISDN doesnt have the speed, and the internet is not ready for the efficiency and reliability needed."
The firm provides pre-press services for 54 titles for a host of publishers including Cahners, Emap, Findlay Publications, Reed Business Information (RBI), New Trade Publications and Prime Publications. The number of digital file transmissions at J Jays has increased by over 400% since January 1999.
J Jays has offered remote on-screen proofing since 1997, but has recently added JumpGate PDF RS ripped and screened workflow.
J Jays, RBI, Williams Press and TPL form the RBI Workgroup, which is WAM!NETs largest UK customer.
