The move at the regional publisher comes as part of a switch to CTP, which has also included the installation of an ECRM Newsmatic platesetter and an Inca 80 plate processor.
County Down Spectator press manager Stephen Foster said the CTP move had brought "greater print quality [and] a reduction in ink and water consumption".
Foster plans to use the plates both on the plant's 48pp Solna newspaper press and on a two-colour Heidelberg sheetfed press.
Foster added that the plant was likely to add business following the move CTP.
