IPS became carbon neutral after it invested in a Devon forestry project to offset its carbon dioxide emissions. These had already been reduced after the implementation of a comprehensive environmental management system, which covered the elimination of waste, recycling, storage of chemicals and visual pollution.
The firm has taken on Wendy Owens as environmental manager to oversee compliance and staff training.
Managing director Andrew Balcombe said: "The environmental accreditations, particularly CarbonNeutral Company classification, will differentiate IPS as a provider of innovative print management solutions that encompass the greater needs of the environment."
The Tonbridge-based company, whose clients include T-Mobile and MasterFoods, follows Blackwell Publishing, which was the first global publisher to be recognised as carbon neutral (PrintWeek, 30 March).
