Crace, who will take up the role in February 2005, is currently managing director of IPC Advertising and managing director of the Wallpaper* Group.

She will fill the position vacated when Stephen Parker left the newspaper group by mutual consent in July this year.

Trinity Mirror chief executive Bailey said that Crace would bring "the creativity and dynamism which has made the magazine sector so successful."
