IPC Media manufacturing director Peter Barber is to retire next April, and headhunters have begun the search to find his replacement.
Barber, 67, said: "I enjoy what I do and will continue to be involved in the industry you cant play golf every day."
IPC Southbank managing director Colin Reeves-Smith paid tribute to Barbers achievements, describing him as "a difficult man to replace".
"He created the concept of a dedicated print function and improved our cost base he has had an enormous influence on the whole industry."
