IPC Media to kick off consultation following divisional restructure

IPC Media will begin a consultation with staff tomorrow as a result of a corporate restructure that has already led to the departure of IPC Ignite managing director Eric Fuller.

The publisher stressed that only "a small number" of staff would be affected by the restructure, which has been designed to realign its products around audience groups rather than publication frequency or subject matter.

Under the new structure, which will come into effect from 4 January 2010, IPC Inspire will publish men's titles, IPC Connect will publish mass-market women's titles and IPC Southbank will house the up-market women's titles.

Evelyn Webster, chief executive of IPC Media, said: "Through our iconic print and online brands, IPC delivers huge, powerful audiences to our clients and business partners.

"However, while our current structure has served us well over many years, it now no longer fully reflects our clients' business needs. Reach, as well as the delivery of tightly targeted audiences, has never been more important.

"By organising IPC by consumer audience, rather than by magazine frequency or subject area, we will create a more market-facing structure, which will also bring greater coherence to our operations."

As a result of the restructure, divisional names IPC TX and IPC Ignite will cease to exist.

Meanwhile, Charlie Meredith, previously managing director of IPC TX, has been appointed to the newly created role of managing director, central operations, which covers production among other areas.
