Inprint and Design opens up web-to-print options with 1m spend

Educational printer Inprint and Design has spent more than 1m on Xerox digital press equipment and workflow software to expand into shared services for other public sector bodies and open up web-to-print applications.

The business was formed eight years ago following the merge of in-plants from the University of Bradford and Bradford College

Its latest spend consists of a Xerox DocuColor 7000AP, a 700 digital colour press, complete with bookletmaker, and a mono Xerox Nuvera 120 machine.

Inprint and Design has also invested in Xerox FreeFlow Print Servers, FreeFlow Process Manager, Xerox FreeFlow Web Services and XMPie software to drive its new print infrastructure.

Brian Pickles, director of Inprint and Design, believes moving into the web-to-print arena will be "crucial" going forward and will allow the company to extend its services.

The online service will be underpinned by Xerox FreeFlow Web Services, which allows the company to create customised online portals, something Pickles considers to be crucial in the long term.

"This is why we are implementing customised web-to-print services and the right workflow," he said.

Customers of the 21-staff company will be able to produce their own templates and print documents, such as brochures, flyers and postcards, online once the service rolls out next month.

Pickles said: "Demand comes in peaks and troughs so we often fill the troughs by carrying out external work. From a turnover of £2m, around 20% of this is brought in from outside and we want to take this offering further."

He added: "In the education environment, some equipment is not used as fully as it should do.  The new kit gives us improved quality and throughput in both our mono and colour work."
