Industry mourns Mitsubishi's Jenkinson

Tributes have poured in for Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses managing director Roy Jenkinson, who died this week after a long battle against cancer. He was 56.

He died peacefully at home on Monday evening (26 April).

Jenkinson's 40-year print career included roles at the Knight Organisation, Komori and Kenmart. He joined Mitsubishi in August 1999, and was responsible for speaheading its successful sales drive in the UK. He was promoted to managing director at the beginning of the year.

The company said he would be "missed by clients and colleagues alike".

Jenkinson was respected by rivals and clients. Komori managing director Martin Rickards paid tribute to a "formidable and very successful salesman who genuinely made a significant contribution", while Andrew Hartwig, managing director at carton printer Firstan added: "There aren't many guys in print like Roy. He was a gentleman and we trusted him."

Former Knight Organisation chairman Michael Knight said: "Roy's technical knowledge was excellent. He bought the perspective of a printer, rather than an engineer. And he had that important ability to converse at all levels".

Jenkinson is survived by his wife Joan and three sons.

His funeral will be held at noon on Friday, at Arkendale church, near Knaresborough.

Donations can be made to Cancer Research UK or Harrogate & District Hospital's MRI scanner appeal.
