Indigo has sealed a supply deal with Franchise Services, the owner of quickprint chains Sir Speedy, PIP and Multicopy.
Together the businesses have more than 1,200 franchisees worldwide. However, no details about the potential value of the deal, or any commitment to purchase a certain number of units, were revealed.
Don Lowe, chairman and chief executive of Franchise Services, said that the Indigo machines were reliable, with outstanding quality, and that the price per image was attractive for a print-for-pay provider like us.
They address the four major issues in our business today, one of which is customer demand for unreasonably fast turnaround, he added.
At its Drupa stand, Indigos theatre demonstration showcases seven of its newest presses, including the Publisher 8000 web press, and the Indigo/Kammann K15 for printing directly onto CDs. The 300-strong audience are all photographed Hewlett-Packard PhotoSmart digital cameras, in what is described as the first large-scale, live photo-personalisation camera-to-press capability. The demonstration involves the production of 18 different jobs, involving the equivalent of 2,170 makereadies, stated Indigo chairman Benny Landa. The audience then collect their personalised packs of print samples printed during the demonstration at the end.
